B is for Broadway Burgundy Frost (NYC) & Blue Lagoon (Revlon)

A quick and dirty mani I did on a whim to test out a dotting tool. I'm not too pleased with the dotting tool but I want to try this mani later with better tools and a steadier hand.

Spotted Unicorn (NOTD)

Hopefully this won't begin a horrible habit of swatching nail art from unswatched nail polishes. But here we are with the yellow Unicorn (Sinful Colors) on the gorgeous neutral pink of Vacation Time (Sinful Colors).

Stone Harvest (NOTD)

I got impatient and wanted to see what Stone Cold looked like.

Oh, and I bite my index fingernails, ignore the minute chip.

 I'd forgotten Stone Cold was a matte! How appropriate of a name is Stone Cold? The matte as is looked amazing with the shiny gloss of Harvest Moon.

I was absolutely too lazy to do all ten of my fingernails so I just did an accent on the ring finger and left it at that. I then messily added a topcoat because I remembered falling in love with Stone Cold like this and yes! This was a matte made to turn shiny. There is a certain warmth to how the shimmer in the dark grey glimmers.

Reggae Confetti (NOTD)

I was having a bit of difficulty choosing what color to put on my nails so I decided to do something fun for the sake of it. I used The Red Carpet, Margarita Senorita, and a green franken for this mani. It's a bit messy but I feel like it works..

Tazmanian Devil (Confetti)

This mani was a combination of a burgundy called Dressed To The 9's and the glitter polish that matches its brand name, Tazmanian Devil.

I thought Dressed might be a duochrome while I was applying it but I guess it was just a matter of the shimmer shining through. It eventually settled into a gorgeous burgundy with the copper shimmer catching the light.

On a whim, I decided to add glitter to my tips freehand (which wasn't really too horrible looking!). I used Tazmanian Devil, which is another polish from my recent Confetti haul. It's a clear base full of multi-colored glitter of different shapes and sizes and rounded off with micro-glitter. It only took two coats to get the thickest of this coats so it's pretty well distributed in my opinion. If I wasn't going to just remove the mani in a few days, I'd add a top coat to seal it all in.

I'm really happy I ran into this new brand. Confetti has proved itself really surprising for the price and a great steal if you're like me and like to change out nail polish colors every other day. I mostly bought metallics and shimmers to try out because they are what I'm most comfy applying but I'll see about the cremes if I go back and get more.

Roaring Mint (NOTD)

Roaring Mint: Mint Sorbet (NYC); Riveting (China Glaze)

Mint Sorbet sure is a hard color to capture on camera.  However, that difficulty is what makes it such a gorgeous mint to have on my nails. Creamy yummy goodness; it's just too bad it can only exist as a creme. 

I have decided that I simply will not ago about my day without Riveting somewhere on my nails so I decided to do some leopard print (which I'm getting better at it's just too bad the topcoat streaked the black rings and spots). I'm also relatively pleased with this application and it is probably the best I've done with a creme. 

Progress. Small but there, trust me.

Spotted Spring (NOTD)

Spotted Spring: Lexington Yellow (NYC); Limestone (Sally Hansen)

This is an easy to use top coat matte finish. I can't vouch for how good of a top coat it is because I didn't keep it on for long enough, but I know that the matte looks great and even dries faster than I expected. I thought I wouldn't like matte, I've seen matte polishes like China Glaze's Pool Party and detested them, but it does beautiful things to nail art and glitter finishes.

So just for kicks, I decided to try my hand at nail art yesterday so I volunteered a friend's nails- they didn't mind being my guinea pig.

It went... alright-ish.

Not bad for the first try ever, done at 3am in the morning no less!

I was using a really horrid nail art brush from LA Colors Art Deco to do the black rings around the pink spots (NYC's Pink Promenade). The brush bristles straight up stuck to the nail and the black polish was so sticky I couldn't actually do a complete turn. On one hand, it made the spots look more realistically leopard, on the other hand it smudged or left thin lines of goop where I didn't need it to. Add to that it didn't really dry quickly so when I went for the top coat, it spread with it.

She ended up linking it; they looked pretty good from afar, so there was that.
