Pantone Color of the 90s... err 2015: MARSALA

It's goodbye to Orchid and ring in the new year with a lovely warm Marsala (Pantone).

From Pantone:
"Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors."

I'm excited about this choice, and while the skeptic in me wonders at the economic value being associated with this annual event, I can't help but be pleased when the colors are so very lush and lovely.  The great thing about Pantone colors of the year is that though one shade is really in reign, there's a whole range associated with the color to work with throughout the year, no matter what season. I'm looking forward to spring and fall polish collections incorporating this shade, and put forth the challenge for them to incorporate it into a summer collection- I think the darker hues of the Marsala would be interesting for a heady summer night out. I'm talking heavy 90s bold dark lips and nails summer vibes. I hope the neutral collections being created right now (Zoya already has theirs press released!) that come at a rapid pace for the spring keep Marsala's level of warmth in mind.

Here's some polish suggestions right off the top:

In Stitches (Essie)
Vacation Time (SinfulColors)

Tramp Stamp (Butter London)
OPI Scores a Goal! (OPI)
Marnie (Zoya)

Evening Seduction (China Glaze)
